Responsive Hero Design

Project Overview

This concept reimagines a SoftMoc homepage hero banner for the HOKA Clifton 10 promotion. The goal was to move beyond a discount-first retail banner and create a more elevated, brand-led e-commerce visual that still clearly communicates the offer, product, and call-to-action.

Instead of treating the hero as a simple sale graphic, I approached it as a retail campaign system — balancing HOKA’s performance lifestyle identity with SoftMoc’s need for clear merchandising, quick product discovery, and conversion.

Process note: This is a self-initiated portfolio concept. The running lifestyle background was created using an AI-assisted visual workflow and used as a non-commercial mockup to demonstrate campaign direction, responsive layout thinking, and e-commerce design execution.

The final direction was shaped by four key decisions: using lifestyle imagery to preserve HOKA’s performance identity, creating a clear offer hierarchy for SoftMoc’s retail environment, balancing brand emotion with e-commerce conversion, and maintaining product visibility with restraint so the hero remains clean, premium, and brand-led.

The design direction was built around the intersection of SoftMoc’s retail clarity and HOKA’s performance lifestyle identity. The goal was not to create a pure brand ad or a low-end promo graphic, but a homepage campaign that feels both elevated and easy to shop.

Project Strategy

The design uses a brand-led retail approach: HOKA’s lifestyle energy drives the visual direction, while SoftMoc’s e-commerce needs shape the information hierarchy.

Instead of relying on heavy promo graphics, the layout places the offer inside a cleaner campaign structure with a strong product name, bold discount message, simple CTA, and athletic lifestyle imagery. This keeps the banner conversion-focused while making the experience feel more premium and aligned with HOKA’s brand tone.

The original top promotional area was simplified into a lightweight announcement bar. This keeps the limited-time offer visible without competing with the main hero image.

The top bar acts as a lightweight campaign reminder, while the hero section carries the main brand story and conversion message.

The final concept presents a more elevated homepage campaign for SoftMoc while maintaining the clarity required for retail conversion. By combining HOKA’s athletic lifestyle tone with a clean promotional structure, the hero feels more premium, more brand-aligned, and more suitable for a modern e-commerce homepage.
